Internship/Co-Op Architect

Location:  Corporate Office

Global Engineering is looking for an architect student intern who is interested in learning how architecture is applied to the design/build industry. This position is designed for college students that are pursuing a bachelor’s degree and have an interest in architecture. The intent is to give students an opportunity to apply knowledge and skills learned in college and demonstrate abilities in the work place. The position is temporary, non-exempt, part-time/hourly.

The architect intern can expect to learn from and observe the management team, architects, design engineers, all levels of construction, and AutoCAD designers in support of a variety of design/build projects in both the design and construction phases. Work could consist of preparing site investigations, work plans, design projects, and developing an understanding of the many layers of projects from inception to completion, taking field trips to observe progress at construction sites, reviewing drawings and reports. There may also be opportunities to interact with other departments in the company as well as outside subcontractors.

The engineer intern can expect to learn from and observe the management team, design engineers, all levels of construction, and AutoCAD designers in support of a variety of design/build projects in both the engineering and construction phases. Work could consist of preparing site investigations, work plans, design projects, and developing an understanding of the many layers of projects from inception to completion, taking field trips to observe progress at construction sites, reviewing drawings and reports. Senior Architect (AIA)

Location: Corporate Office

Position for licensed Architect with experience designing building systems to include offices, medical facilities, military training facilities, etc. Take lead role on Govt and private sector construction projects. Design development work sessions at project sites; manage and coordinate staff - conceptual design and final construction documents; ensure quality control.


Architects (AIA)

Professional Engineers (PE)

Location: Corporate Office

Civil Engineers (PE) with experience designing systems to include earthwork, pavement, storm water management, etc.

Electrical Engineers (PE) with experience designing systems to include lighting, power, communications, etc.

Mechanical Engineers (PE) with experience designing systems to include plumbing, HVAC, fire protection, etc.

All positions for professional engineersrequire a minimum five years experience designing systems for medical facilities. LEED AP registration plus


 

General Construction

Operations Manager (Corporate)

Location: Corporate Office

Job Objectives:

The Operations Manager is a full-time position designated to assist the Vice President of Construction with the oversight and coordination of field activities, interfacing with appropriate government agencies, overseeing the management of projects including developing schedules, developing budgets, controlling costs to budgets and delivering gross profits.

Being a change agent who will raise the bar on performance standards, increasing the competency of all direct reports, driving accountability down into the organization and influencing the organization to innovate and adapt to new ideas while preserving the founding values of Global Engineering & Construction, LLC.

This position will be required to make periodic site visits and ensure the company's standards are being met. The coordination of various groups both within the company and outside the company is a critical part of the job

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Daily interface between the Engineering Department & the Construction Department
  • Work Plan review and monitoring Work Plan submission schedules
  • Prepare Work Plan Safety & QC sections, Construction Schedules and reviewing Dr Checks comments that impact costs
  • Support corporate proposal preparations, narratives, estimates, schedules
  • Support/Oversee Closeout document preparations
  • Managing, directing, coordinating and supporting all Project Managers
    Developing strategic and tactical plans that improve and grow the business
  • Travel to project sites periodically to review progress and provide guidance to Project Managers.
  • Resolves construction related issues that can not be resolved by Project Managers and/or makes recommendations to Vice President of Construction as to how to resolve major issues.
  • In cooperation with or under the direction of the Vice President of Construction prepare and evaluate bid packages and negotiate contracts with construction materials suppliers and subcontractors.

Project Managers

Location: Various

Job Objectives:

The project manager has overall project responsibility for timely and profitable completion. The project manager is the prime link between the Government and other members of the project team. Perform construction and project management functions including planning, scheduling, coordinating subcontractor activities. Must understand risk identification and the knowledge to minimize risks.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • · Conduct safety and quality control audits for assigned projects;
  • · Coordinate resolution of design issues between subcontractors and responsible design consultant;
  • · Monitor project budgets and schedules
  • ·  Identify and document project risks; and
  • ·  Maintain/issue Weekly Risk Report and all required project documentation

Project Superintendents

Location: Various

The superintendent directs all day-to-day field operations. It is the superintendent’s duty to ensure the project time/cost/quality goals are fully executed in the field. The superintendent and field staff guide, expedite and coordinate the day-by-day progress of the work.

 


Project Engineers

Location: Various

The project engineer is responsible for managing and coordinating the various technical and administrative contract requirements of each subcontractor assigned by the project manager.

 


 

Marketing

Proposal Manager/Technical Writer

Location: Corporate Office

Job Objectives:

The Proposal Manager/Technical Writer is responsible for leading teams for assigned proposals, and also for contributing substantially to proposal content as a technical writer.  The Proposal Manager/Technical Writer analyzes federal government RFPs, develops proposal outlines and schedules, works with engineers and construction personnel to prepare proposal content, performs editing and proofreading, prepares for and facilitates proposal reviews, as well as prepares for and facilitates proposal production.  The Proposal Manager/Technical Writer must be able to work extended hours as needed to meet proposal deadlines.

The Proposal Manager/Technical Writer participates in the development of win themes and proposal strategies.  He/she plans proposal schedules and assigns writers.  He/she plans and conducts kickoff meetings.  The Proposal Manager/Technical Writer interfaces with engineers, construction personnel, senior managers, and other proposal team members to obtain information on technologies and approaches for technical proposals.  He/she obtains writing assignments from the section authors by the assigned dates.   He/she edits technical information prepared by technical authors into clear, concise proposal text and illustration concepts. 

The Proposal Manager/Technical Writer performs proofreading and editing, and ensures editorial integrity for proposals.  The Proposal Manager/Technical Writer prepares proposal material in accordance with the format, limitations, and completeness specified by government proposal preparation instructions.  The Proposal Manager/Technical Writer plans and manages proposal production and delivery. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide assistance in the development of the past performance volume for all active proposals.
  • Establish a database to catalog past performance information from site locations/prior proposals.
  • Update past performance database through regular contact with site operations.
  • Manage all phases of the proposal process from inception to award for selected efforts.
  • Interpret the RFP to provide consistent guidance to proposal team members.
  • Determine the appearance and layout of the proposal.
  • Develop outlines and timelines for proposal efforts.
  • Assign writing tasks to subject matter experts.
  • Assign and follow-up on action items.
  • Ensure the development and distribution of templates and boilerplate for writers.
  • Edit for grammar, accuracy, organization, and spelling.
  • Write sections of the proposal as necessary
  • Organizes and maintains proposal/marketing data.
  • Attends proposal related meetings / presentations
  • Coordinates firm-sponsored marketing events and administers client reward program

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Strong written and oral communications skills and excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple documents simultaneously
  • Prior experience performing in a role as a proposal manager and as a writer preparing technical
  •  proposals for the federal government.
  • Ability to quickly analyze government RFPs and prepare proposal outlines/compliance matrices.
  • Very strong skills with the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Power Point).   Knowledge of
  • graphics programs, such as Visio and Adobe Illustrator, are a plus.
